JUDr. Milan VÁŇA (+ 2005)

judr milan vana

JUDr. Milan Váňa was a senior partner and one of the founding partners in the Váňa, Kapalín & Partners law firm, concentrating on the management, development, fundamental strategy and legal-commercial decision-making of the company. He also represented VKP before international and key domestic clients and personally dealt with decisive legal cases undertaken by VKP.

After completing his studies at the Faculty of Law at Charles’ University in Prague he worked at the United Nations non-profit organisation based in Prague, where he specialised in the issue of copyright. He set up a private company entitled KONTRAKT in 1990, a consultancy office dealing with the sphere of legal relations to property and consultancy in the sphere of business and business management. He became a member of the Czech Bar Association in August 1991 and began his own law practice at the Váňa & Associates office, which concentrated on foreign and domestic clients investing in property in Prague and throughout the Czech Republic. In the years that followed he progressively worked as a founding partner in the Váňa, Oršula & Partners law firm and as senior partner in Váňa, Pergl & Partners. His team mainly specialised in legal aid and the representation of clients in complex, large-scale property transactions, corporate and property law, copyright and intellectual property rights, the resolution of complicated cases of restitution, property disputes in general and the resolution of disputes between partners and shareholders of companies and the associated legal and tax issues.

JUDr. Váňa was a co-author of The Legal Handbook for Real Estate Development in the Czech Republic. He spoke fluent English in addition to his mother tongue and also commanded German and Russian. He was a recognised authority in the sphere of property rights among Czech and foreign clientele and the legal public.

His death in May 2005 was a great loss to VKP. However, his name remains in the name of the company which partly continues his legacy. Nevertheless, more and more the firm now follows the path charted by the Managing Partner Mgr. Kapalín and the other senior partner Mgr. Šplechtna.
